Sound Designer
The Illusion is a play that takes place in many locations, thus needing many soundscapes to set the scene. Working in The Alice E. Bartlett Theatre at Fredonia, a black box space, set up as a three quarter style seating for this show. The design benefited from a qudraphonic sound system with a single low frequency effects source. This allowed me to create 3D spaces for the audience's immersion into the worlds they were about to embark. Take a listen to the stereo renderings, or browse the photos for examples of paperwork and showfile setup. I used Adobe Audition as the recording, editing, and mixing system and QLab as the playback and control system.

I wanted the listeners to feel as though they just stepped into the mouth of a cave when they walked through the theater doors. Thinking of a cave, I think of dark and damp. Thus I added sounds of echoing drips throughout and a slight wind to provoke the feeling of a chilly damp atmosphere. Being this a mysterious and magical cave, there are small sounds to perk up the ears and keep the audience engaged.
What's more to a warm summer's evening than a slight breeze, crickets, and the occasional owl? Not much, other than a bon fire and some good company. Take a listen!
What's more to a warm summer's afternoon than a slight breeze and birds chirping? Take a listen!
This sounscape is fantastic at bringing the anxiety induced by being in prison. The stereo image, and lack of a subwoofer, would make this sound less effective. Take a listen!

While this effect is specifically designed for quadrophonic sound, it still has a similar effect in headphones. Take a listen!
